Groundwings Update May 2025

Groundwings has introduced this update system to allow pilots registered to Groundwings to see what is going on and how we are planning on growings.

Groundwing's currently has 9 vehicle locations around New Zealand and one shuttle location availible. The vehicle location spots are located below:

• Wanaka

• Te Anau/Manapouri

• Taieri

• Ashburton

• Hamner Springs

• Anama

• Omaka

• Masterton

• Hastings

• Glenorchy (shuttle run by the Glenorchy Hotel)

The Wanaka, Omaka and Hamner Springs vehicles has been extremely busy and popular this month!

Vehicles coming and going on Groundwings is extremely common as vehicle owners can't always justitfy keeping a car at aeroclubs when it is not getting enough use. However, many of the vehicles on Groundwings are also used for personal use.

This can lead to periods where the vehicle may be booked out as the owner is using the vehicle. If you go to book a vehicle on the Groundwings website and see it is booked out for a large period of time, give us a ring. We may be able to talk to the vehicle owner and try to work something out.

In the early days of Groundwings we faced a few challenges and hiccups. However, we have learnt from these experiences and have fine tuned this to ensure that Groundwings is as easy and reliable as possible. There has never been an easier time to sign up to Groundwings or the become a vehicle owner through the Groundwings platform.

We have been making calls to various businesses to help grow Groundwings and are super excited for the future and what is to come!

Groundwings is always open for vehicle owners to jump on board. Groundwings makes it super easy and flexible to place and manage your vehicle on the website. Information on Vehicles and Locations

The Masterton car has been offline for a period of time due to resurfacing at the Masterton runway. It is also used for personal therefore may be booked out for periods of time as the vehicle is being used by the vehicle owner.

Omaka has two vehicles at one location, making it more likely to be able to secure a booking.

The Glenorchy Shuttle run by the Glenorchy Hotel, is a great option if you are planning on heading to Glenorchy. All bookings come with a table booking. Pilots must inform Groundwings or the Glenorchy Hotel 12 hours before their arrival and give updates on arrival times (etc if your running late or early). Also the Glenorchy Hotel is giving a discount to pilots who stay there!

The Taieri vehicle must be booked at least 12 hours in advance. This vehicle is kept in a different location therefore must be relocated to the aeroclub, hence the booking in advance.

The Anama vehicle has to be booked 48 hours in advance.

The Ashburton vehicle also has to be relocated so the best way to book this one is to call us.

Emails are sent with vehicle instructions at the time you have choosen your booking to start. If you can not find this email (sometimes goes to spam) give us a call.
